Mass Tank Inspection is exceptionally qualified to offer a full complement of tank inspection services for many different types of above and underground tanks and equipment. Inspection services include tanks designed to UL, ASME, API, ASTM D-1998, and AWWA standards, as well as tanks built to unspecified standards. Our experience spans many industrial sectors such as petroleum, chemical, wastewater, drinking water, pharmaceutical and gasoline service stations.

Mass Tank Inspection is competent and experienced in all types of tank entries and our capabilities include large and small tanks in any service, including:

  • API 653, API 510, API 570, SP001-06 Tank Inspection Standards
  • Risk-Based Assessments (for internal inspection interval extension);
  • Mechanical Integrity Assessments for compliance with Process Safety Management (OSHA PSM) and Risk Management Plan (EPA RMP);
  • Spill Prevention, Control & Countermeasures Plan for tank inspection compliance;
  • Third-Party Underground Storage Tank Inspections; and,
  • Annual Valid Use Permit Inspections for tanks over 10,000 gallons.

Inspections include the performance of any number of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques on the tank shell roof and floor.

All Mass Tank Inspection clients receive a complete inspection report of findings, documented in a bound, professionally written report that includes an illustrative narrative, NDT locus schematic, action items, inspection intervals, original plate thickness, average actual plate thickness (ultrasonic measurement), foundation viability, declivity, corrosion rate, acceptable fill height, annular ring to shell connection, nozzle to shell connection and general condition of shell, roof, vents, paint, stairways and welds.

KEY PERSONNEL MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE

The Mass Tank Inspection team has been a practicing API and Steel Tank Institute certified tank inspections since the year 2000. We perform the following tank inspection responsibilities:

  • develop and implement inspection protocols;
  • critical path analysis and scheduling;
  • personnel selection and management;
  • data quality control; and,
  • assessment and report generation.

Our team leader, Kevin Halligan, holds a Master of Management Degree and is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager Master Level. His experience includes 20 years as a regulatory affairs director for a chemical manufacturing company, and his regulatory compliance experience adds significant value to our tank inspection service. Clients can be assured that, prior to any tank inspection, a site-specific Health and Safety Plan is developed and reviewed by appropriate personnel. Mass Tank Inspection also ensures strict compliance with regulations associated with Lock out/Tag out, Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Personal Protective Equipment, Hearing Protection, as well as any and all client-mandated operating procedures.

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technicians

The type of NDT performed on a particular tank may vary from site to site, depending on the inspection parameters issued by the tank’s owner/operator. NDT type may also vary depending on tank age, condition, material of construction and environmental conditions at the time of inspection. NDT capability types include but are not limited to:
